Worktop guide

How do I prepare for granite worktop fitting?

Your installer should confirm the preparation needed for your kitchen before fitting. Cabinets, appliances, access and any supporting structure all affect the worktop installation.

What to consider

  1. 01

Ask the installer when cabinets and panels need to be secured and ready for templating.

  2. 02

Have the sink, hob and their specifications available as agreed.

  3. 03

Confirm any support requirements for islands, overhangs or openings.

  4. 04

Agree arrangements for plumbing, electrical work and removal of existing worktops.

  5. 05

Keep the route into the kitchen clear and discuss access restrictions in advance.

There is no single overhang, support or substrate rule that suits every material, thickness and kitchen. Follow the agreed specification for your worktop.

For cutting or fabrication, use a suitably equipped stone professional. Read HSE guidance on silica dust.
